Why PR?

Benefits of Permanent Residency

Permanent Residency unlocks rights, freedoms, and long-term security that no temporary visa can provide.

Live & Work Abroad Permanently

No visa renewals, no employer-tied restrictions. As a PR holder you can live, work, and change jobs freely in your chosen country without time limits.

Family Sponsorship

Sponsor your spouse, children, and in many cases parents for residency or immigration — keeping your family together as you build your life abroad.

Access to Healthcare & Education

PR holders typically enjoy access to public healthcare, subsidized education for children, and social security benefits on the same terms as citizens.

Pathway to Citizenship

Permanent Residency is the final step before full citizenship. After meeting residency duration requirements, you can apply for a passport and full civic rights.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

A Permanent Resident status allows you to live and work in a country indefinitely, without time restrictions. Unlike a work or study visa, PR is not employer or institution-specific and can lead to citizenship after meeting residency requirements. PR holders typically enjoy access to public healthcare, social benefits, and the right to sponsor family members — rights that temporary visa holders do not have.

Canada is currently the most accessible PR destination for Indian applicants, with the Express Entry system and Provincial Nominee Programs offering multiple pathways. The UK's Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) route and European countries like Portugal and Netherlands are also increasingly popular. The best choice depends on your profession, age, IELTS score, years of work experience, and financial capacity. We evaluate all these factors during your free consultation to identify your strongest options.

The Canada Express Entry processing time is typically 6 months from the date of application submission. However, the overall process from profile creation, receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA), and submitting the application can take 1–2 years depending on your CRS score and draw frequency. Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) can take 12–18 months in total. We help you build a strong Express Entry profile from the start to maximise your chances of receiving an ITA at the earliest draw.

The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score is used in Canada's Express Entry pool. It is based on factors like age (younger = higher), education, language proficiency (IELTS/CELPIP), work experience, and Canadian job offers or provincial nominations. Improving your IELTS score is often the fastest way to boost CRS. Getting a provincial nomination adds 600 points instantly — almost a guaranteed ITA. We assess your current CRS and develop a targeted strategy to increase it within the shortest possible timeline.

No. You can apply for most PR programs while continuing to work in India. The application process is done remotely until you receive an approval and are asked to submit your passport for visa stamping. However, some pathways require a valid job offer in the destination country before the PR application can proceed. We clarify this for your chosen program upfront.

Yes. Canada's Federal Skilled Worker Program and Federal Skilled Trades Program do not require a job offer for high-CRS applicants. Portugal's D7 Passive Income visa and several European settlement permits do not require employment either. The UK's Global Talent visa also does not require a job offer for recognised talent in certain fields. We identify the right job-offer-free pathway based on your profile.

Citizenship timelines after PR: Canada requires 3 years of physical presence within the 5 years before application; UK requires 5 years of continuous residence including 1 year on ILR; Portugal requires 5 years of legal residence. We plan your immigration journey with the citizenship timeline in mind from the very beginning, not as an afterthought.

Yes. Canada offers a Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) which allows PR holders and citizens to sponsor parents for permanent residency. The UK's Adult Dependent Relative visa allows parents to join you if they require long-term personal care that isn't available in their home country. Eligibility criteria apply in both cases. We advise on the family sponsorship process as an add-on after your own PR is confirmed.

Proof of funds requirements vary by program. For Canada Express Entry (without a job offer), a single applicant needs to show approximately CAD $13,000–$17,000 in settlement funds. The UK Skilled Worker visa requires £1,270 in personal savings. European PR pathways vary; Portugal's D7 visa requires demonstrable passive income. We provide an exact funds checklist for your chosen program, and advise on how to present your financial documents to maximise credibility.

A long-stay or work visa is temporary — it is tied to an employer or purpose and expires after 1–5 years. Permanent Residency is indefinite and is not tied to any specific employer or reason for stay. PR holders can change jobs freely, access social benefits, enroll children in public schools without international student fees, and eventually apply for citizenship. Think of PR as "the right to call that country your home" — a visa is just permission to visit.

Who Qualifies

PR Eligibility Criteria

Permanent Residency pathways have varying requirements. Here are the general criteria across popular destinations.

Skilled Occupation

Your job must appear on the target country's in-demand occupation list (NOC for Canada, SOL for UK, Positive List for Netherlands).

Minimum 1–5 years of relevant skilled work experience is required depending on the PR pathway and destination country.

Language Proficiency

IELTS or equivalent (Canada/UK/Australia). Dutch B1 for Netherlands-based PR pathways. No language test for most CIS countries.

Age Below 45

Most PR point-based systems award maximum points to applicants under 35. Eligibility generally extends to age 45–50.

Clean Criminal Record

No serious criminal history. Police clearance certificates from all countries of residence in the last 10 years are required.

Education Credentials

A bachelor's degree or higher in a skilled field. Foreign degrees may need to be assessed and recognised by a country-specific authority.
